White Hawk Newsletter #2
Homecoming Parade
WHA got the opportunity to build a float to be part of the parade. We got to be creative and work together to decide what we wanted to do. This year we did a beach-themed float. All the students who participated in the float this year seemed to really enjoy it. There was a lot of laughing and singing during the float. The little kids seemed to really like it too; they were dancing to our music and looked like they were having fun.

Students Taking Classes At The High School
At WHA, students have the option to take all classes at White Hawk, or students can choose to take some classes at the high school. Most WHA students chose to go to the high school to take some classes this year. They are able to take classes like welding, choir, art, and culinary there. It gives us an opportunity to get to explore and take new classes.
We have a new bus driver every two weeks who takes us to the high school and back. Some students choose to go on the bus, but they also get the option to drive there. At first, it started out rough, but now the students load and unload the bus fast to get to their classes on time.

College Classes
Many students at WHA have the opportunity to take college classes to get a head start on them. It has given us many opportunities and given us an idea of what college classes are like online. It has helped some of them decide if that is the career they want.
Northwest College Visit
WHA students had the opportunity to attend the annual Wyoming College Fair at Northwest College in Powell on Sept. 16th. Those who went enjoyed learning about a variety of different college options. While on the NWC campus, they were treated to a thorough campus tour by former WHS students who gave them the “insider take” on college life at Northwest.
Worland Health Club
Every Wednesday, the lifetime fitness class goes to the Worland Health Club. At the gym there are many opportunities for everyone, and there is something for everyone to do there. There are many options for students to choose from at the health club, such as lifting weights, circuit room and cardio. Thank you to the school district for giving students this opportunity.

Team Building
This month, for team building, we went to Heart Mountain Internment Camp in Powell. Heart Mountain used to be an internment camp for the Japanese-Americans; it had over 10,000 Japanese-Americans imprisoned. It was the third largest community during World War II. Some of the residents that were there were drafted to fight in the war. Many students enjoyed learning about past history and visiting Heart Mountain. It was really cool to see how the rooms looked when the Japanese-Americans lived there. We also got to see the original houses that had no insulation and we also got to feel how cold the room was. The tour guide also talked about how they survived during the cold winters. There was still clothes, handmade furniture, and plates that the Japanese-Americans used.
