Virtual Education- Washakie Online

  • Washakie No. 1 Online - Virtual Education Program

Washakie No. 1 Online uses local course instructors who are fully certified in the content area.  Support is provided onsite at Worland High School via our Alternative Education Program which is fully staffed with a bilingual director.  Elementary and Middle School support is available onsite via after school tutoring and progress monitoring.

Students who are interested in Washakie No. 1 Online must be approved through a formal application/interview process.  Washakie No. 1 Online is a very rigorous curriculum that is best suited for students who demonstrate personal responsibility. The Activities Director carefully monitors eligibility for activities that are associated with Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA).

Washakie No. 1 Online typically serves two groups of students:  “Washakie No. 1 Online” families, and local Brick and Mortar students:

    • Families who are interested in Washakie No. 1 Online must complete the application process including a formal interview. Families are required to complete the district’s registration packet, which closely mirrors the brick and mortar registration packet. During the application process, families must assure the district that an onsite Learning Coach will be available full time to oversee and monitor student progress.
    • Local Brick and Mortar students are also required to participate in a formal application/interview process. Washakie No. 1 Online offers students the opportunity to take online course for the following reasons:
    • Enrichment: for students who desire to take higher-level classes which are not offered at Worland High School.
    • Advanced Placement: for classes not offered at Worland High School.
    • Scheduling Conflict: when a student is unable to take desired classes due to conflict of schedule.
    • Credit Recovery: in order to make up the required classes needed for graduation.

An approved application will include parent permission, data support, administrative permission, and available funding.

For the 2019-20 school year, Washakie No. 1 Online is accepting local students only.  However, as with the district’s Brick and Mortar policy, out of district students may request to participate in Washakie No. 1 Online courses by completing the district’s “Out of District Request to Attend” form.  This form requires the approval of the district Superintendent.

The district's approved application fully outlines this program.
